  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg yolk (room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 cups (172.5 g) cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon (4 g) baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) buttermilk (room temperature)

  • 1/2 cup strawberry puree
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (slightly chilled)
  • 2 ½ cups powdered sugar (sifted)
  • ½ oz freeze dried strawberries (pulverized into a powder)
  • 4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease round cake pans.
  2. Prepare each cake layer (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry) separately by mixing dry and wet ingredients.
  3. Pour batters into prepared pans and bake until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Allow layers to cool completely before frosting.
  5. Frost with chocolate buttercream on the bottom layer, vanilla on the middle, and strawberry on top.
