  • 250g softened butter
  • 275g granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 335g all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 180ml milk
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • Pink food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F) and prepare a 9-inch round cake pan by greasing and lining it.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Combine dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda) in another bowl; gradually add to the creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  4. Divide the batter into three bowls: two plain and one mixed with cocoa powder and pink food coloring.
  5. Layer spoonfuls of each batter into the prepared pan, gently swirling them together.
  6. Bake for about 50 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Cool before frosting.
