  • 6 ounces fresh mozzarella pearls
  • 1 demi baguette
  • ½ cup basil pesto
  • Black gel food coloring
  • 12 ounces cherry tomatoes
  • Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Fresh basil
  • Balsamic vinegar glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Fill silicone skull molds with mozzarella pearls and bake for 6–7 minutes until just melted.
  3. Press down on the mozzarella in each mold and allow them to cool completely.
  4. Raise the oven temperature to 475°F. Halve the cherry tomatoes, place cut-side down on parchment-lined baking sheets, drizzle with olive oil, season, and roast for 10–15 minutes.
  5. Slice the baguette into ½-inch pieces, toast in the oven for about 8–10 minutes until lightly golden.
  6. Mix basil pesto with black gel food coloring until desired color is achieved.
  7. Spread black pesto on toasted baguette slices and return to the oven for another 8–10 minutes.
  8. Top each slice with roasted tomatoes and mozzarella skulls before serving.
